ATTRIBUTED TO HERTER BROTHERS (ACTIVE 1864-1906), NEW YORK, 1875-1885

Identical in design, these chairs are perhaps part of the set made for the Harriman family of New York, possibly for Edward Henry Harriman (1848-1909). The floral inlay in the Harriman suite and the present lot is also identical to a rosewood suite of seating furniture made for the Mark Hopkins house, San Francisco, circa 1878.
