Lot Essay

Castle depicted his family’s farm from various angles and vantage points. Here, the artist endows trees and their unarticulated leaves with an entirely different weight, expressiveness and intensity than the manmade wooden buildings and fences. Rendered on a sheet of repurposed notebook paper, this drawing echoes and picks up the geometry of the printed ruled lines.
