Lot Essay

The form of this bottle is typical of pieces produced by Edmé Samson in the late 19th century. They are usually decorated with cobalt-blue medallions on white ground with gilt highlights - a decoration inspired from Turkish piece. The decoration of the present bottle is directly inspired from Persian themes and as such is relatively unusual in the production of this maker.
