Lot Essay

The intricate boteh design on the skirt of this figure and that of the following lot are closely related to a portrait of a woman holding a rose in the Hermitage which Adel Adamova attributes to the first quarter of the 19th century (Adel Adamova, Persian Painting and Drawing from the Hermitage, Saint Petersburg, 1996, p.291, no.67).
