SIGNED MUSTAFA SAFWAT, OTTOMAN TURKEY, MID 19TH CENTURY
Arabic manuscript on paper, 309ff. plus three fly-leaves, each folio with 15ll. of elegant black naskh, gold verse roundels, sura headings in white on gold ground, text panels within gold and red rules, catchwords, gold and polychrome sajda and section markers in the margins, opening bifolio with gold and polychrome illuminated headings and headpiece surmounting text in clouds reserved against gold ground, the colophon signed Al-Sayyid Mustafa Safwat min talamidh Hafiz al-Qur'an Al-Sayyid Ibrahim al-Fallahi, in contemporaneous gilded brown morocco with detached flap and pink paper doublures, inserted old owner's note in German dated 22 January 1963
