François Linke made six versions of the present chair in two sizes, in mahogany or bois satiné, upholstered or caned. One with ormolu-mounts like the present lot, was made for the important American client, Geraldine Rockefeller Dodge in 1913. Another identical chair sold Christie’s, London, 19 March 2009, lot 115 (£8,750). A further chaise by Linke but without the ormolu mounts sold A Private Collection: Volume I, Sotheby’s, New York, 26 October 2006, lot 111 ($4,800).
