A RARE BLUE AND WHITE SQUARE DISH
LONGQING FOUR-CHARACTER SEAL MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE WITHIN DOUBLE SQUARES AND OF THE PERIOD (1567-1572)
The dish with gently curved sides and canted corners is painted on the interior with a central panel enclosing two court ladies standing beneath a tree in a fenced garden setting. The cavetto is decorated with four blossoming peony sprays. The exterior is further painted to each side with a fruiting peach spray.
