A RARE BLUE AND WHITE 'LUOHAN' CENSER
KANGXI SIX-CHARACTER MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE AND OF THE PERIOD (1662-1722)
The censer of cylindrical form is raised on three low bracket feet and decorated in vibrant tones of blue with a continous mountain landscape scene with the Eighteen Luohan. The mark is written within the countersunk base.
7 3/8 in. (18.7 cm.) diam., lacquer cover, Japanese wood box

Compare a very similar Kangxi censer of similar size, also decorated with the Eighteen Luohan, in the Collection of Julia and John Curtis, sold at Christie’s New York, 16 March 2015, lot 3574.
