Lot Essay

Lari Pittman’s Untitled #1 (The Living Room) depicts a disorderly scene, in which interior and exterior have been merged in one surreal domestic space. Swords draw blood from a chair, while a rug’s tassels sprout up out of the ground like so many flowers.
