PROPERTY FROM THE EVERTS-CALVOCORESSI-COMNÈNE COLLECTION (LOTS 67 & 68)Robert Everts served as the Belgian Ambassadorial Envoy to Beijing from 1910 to 1916 and again from 1920 to 1924. He and his wife, Alexandra (née Calvocoressi-Comnène), amassed their collection of Chinese art during this time. The collection comprised lacquer, furniture, porcelain, carved jade and hard stones, as well as textiles, some of which are now in the Victoria and Albert Museum. The collectors' interests extended beyond Chinese art, and other examples from their collections are in museums around the world.

Decorated in white slip with a bird perched on a berried branch and two butterflies amongst narcissi and lingzhi fungus, the base with a Qianlong underglaze blue six-character seal mark
15 ¾ in. (40 cm.) high, carved wood stand
