Together with Linke's index number 126, four-sided pedestals executed in a combination of floral and 'mosaic' finishes were available until 1930 when the last recorded pair was supplied to the King of Egypt. However, notations in the Linke Archive indicate that the present design (index number 184) was rarely manufactured and few appear to have been completed between 1895, when first conceived, and the final order in 1910. At least one example was completed for the Bolivian tin magnate, Simon Iturri Patiño, and another completed in 1903 for an anonymous patron. A single pedestal of this model inlaid with more elaborate marquetry panels was sold at Sotheby's, New York, 24 October 2007, lot 338 ($73,000). A related pair of pedestals, index number 126, was sold A Private Collection: Volume I, Sotheby's, New York, 26 October 2006, lot 102 ($132,000).
