Lot Essay

Exceptionally refined, these cabinets are the work of a leading cabinet-maker, such as Seddon or George Simson (see C. Gilbert, 'Seddon, Sons & Shackleton,' Furniture History, 1997 and C. Gilbert, Pictorial Dictionary of Marked London Furniture 1700-1840, 1996). Salient features of both makers including the finely turned and reeded colonettes and the use of shaped panels and exotic timbers, particularly the choice of rich East Indian satinwood.
