A COLLECTION OF RARE MADEIRA
Lots 243 to 261 were recently shipped from a private cellar on Madeira. Now lying in Corsham, Wiltshire (Octavian)
Candida Malvasia 1811
'Recorked at O.P. Brothers Private Collection May 2015'.
New wax capsule. Very bin-soiled, damaged label. Level 1.5cms below base of cork

Tasting note: Light fine sweet raisiny aromatic nose. Elegant styled, like the 1811 I tasted last April. Red fruit and vanilla. Fine soft red fruit start of taste, like 'Fraise des Bois' the French strawberry liqueur. Medium sweet pure fruit driven and youthful. Could this be a glass aged vintage as it has such a pure red fruit character? Seductive, hardly what you expect from a 200 year old wine. Second bottle with JNV seal showed more depth and development. Still not extremely complex, but pleasant to drink. In fact all in line with the Malvasia Candida 1811 tasted in New York last April. Aug 2015. EV.
