Chambers’ print comes from a series of works he has made over the last three years that explore the American Midwest as a metaphor for encounters, journeys and unchartered space. Its imagery relates to a monumental print work The Big Country that was exhibited at the Royal Academy of Arts in 2012 and the Pera Museum, Istanbul in 2014.

Stephen Chambers (British, born 1960) studied at Winchester School of Art from 1978 to 1979 and then at St Martin’s School of Art from 1979 to 1982.
