A CLOISONNÉ ENAMEL ARCHAISTIC SQUARE-FORM VASE, FANGHU
LATE MING DYNASTY, 17TH CENTURY
The vase is decorated to each side with an archaistic taotie between bands of various flower scrolls and stylised 'C' scrolls, reserved on a blue ground. The neck is applied with two lug handles.
8 ½ in. (21.6 cm.) high

Private European Collection, acquired prior to 1990.

Compare the current vase to one of similar size and square form, dating to the 16th century, which sold at Sotheby's Paris, 10 June 2014, lot 224.
