A LARGE PAINTED ENAMEL 'BUTTERFLIES' DISH
18TH CENTURY
The dish is decorated with a central cartouche depicting butterflies and a pair of rabbits in a garden with blossoming peonies, begonias and chrysanthemums. The border is decorated with floral panels on the yellow-ground, and a similar design is on the reverse. The base is boldly decorated with a dragon emerging from clouds and tumultuous waves.
