A GILT-BRONZE FIGURE OF MEDICINE BUDDHA
18TH CENTURY
Medicine Buddha is seated in dhyanasana on a double-lotus base, with the left hand in dhyanamudra, and the right hand extended in varadamudra. He wears monk's robes that have detailed hems. His face is cast with a serene expression and his hair is modelled in tight curls.
6 ½ in. (16.5 cm.) high
Provenance
A private Swiss collection, predominantly acquired in France in the 1980s and 1990s.
