The lobed body is finely decorated with gilt cartouches of prunus, peonies and butterflies, the s-shaped spout and curved handle are modelled as gnarled branches, the domed cover and handle surmounted with further blossoming branches.

An almost identical ewer and cover was sold at Christie's London, South Kensington, 11 November 2011, lot 1024.
