The mark Taoyi zhenpin can be translated as "a fine piece of ceramic". A vase with the same mark dated to the 1950s-early 1960s is illustrated in Kwan, Innovations and Creations: A Retrospect of 20th Century Porcelain from Jingdezhen, Jingdezhen Ceramic Museum and Art Museum, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, 2004, p. 187, no. 135.
