A GILT-BRONZE FIGURE OF MAHAKALA
18TH CENTURY
The wrathful deity is modelled striding in alidhasana on a prostrate figure of Ganapati over a lotus base, holding a curved knife and skull cup in his primary hands and various implements in the others. He is clad in a tiger skin adorned with masks, chains and beaded jewellery, his face with bulging eyes is surmounted by a skull tiara with wild hair in flames, with turquoise inlays remaining.
