A PAIR OF LARGE BRONZE ARCHAISTIC VASES, HU
MING DYNASTY, 17TH CENTURY
Each vase has twin circular handles at the shoulders, with moveable rings, and kuilong design at the vertical lip. The neck and upper body are finely decorated with bands of taotie masks, archaistic dragons and lappets on a leiwen ground, with geometric blade designs extending down the rounded body.
Each 18 ¼ in. (46.2 cm.) high
