A LARGE DOUCAI 'LOTUS' JARDINIÈRE
18TH-19TH CENTURY
The vessel is sturdily potted in the form of an alms bowl. The exterior is colourfully decorated with eight stylised lotus flowers with leafy scrolls, set between a ruyi border to the mouth rim and a lappet band encircling the foot.
12 5/8 in. (32 cm.) high
Provenance
From a private American collection, acquired in the 1920s and thence by descent within the family.
