Cal. 861 mechanical movement, 17 jewels, metal dust cap, black dial, luminous baton numerals, outer fifths of a second divisions, luminous baton hands, three sunken engine-turned subsidiary dials for constant seconds, 30 minutes and 12 hours registers, crystal etched with OMEGA symbol, tonneau-shaped water-resistant-type case, black bezel with tachymeter scale calibrated for 500 units, fluted lugs, screw back with black painted engraving FLIGHT-QUALIFIED BY NASA FOR ALL MANNED SPACE MISSIONS – O THE FIRST WATCH WORN ON THE MOON, OMEGA crown, two round chronograph buttons in the band, stainless steel semi-expandable OMEGA bracelet stamped 1039/516, deployant clasp stamped 3 69, overall approximate length 7.5 inches, case, dial and movement signed

Accompanied by an OMEGA Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch on 19 October 1971 and its subsequent delivery to the USA. Further accompanied by a rare OMEGA crater box.

The present watch is a rare example of Speedmaster so called Straight writing or Scritte dritte by the OMEGA aficionados. The celebrated expression THE FIRST WATCH WORN ON THE MOON engraved on the case back is a straight writing. On the succeeding Speedmaster models, this inscription is etched in a circular arc.
