Lot Essay

Claude Chevigny, maître in 1768.
The ébéniste Claude Chevigny worked from the rue de Cléry, Paris, during the last quarter of the 18th century and specialised in luxury seat furniture for the French nobility. Among his notable commissions was the Château de Chanteloup for the Duc de Choiseul and the Château de Modave in Belgium for the Duc de Montmorency.
