拍品專文

The present chairs are modelled on the celebrated commission of 'peacock' furniture ordered by Daniel Tupper for Hauteville House, Guernsey in 1790. The suite, supplied by Seddon and Sons, included a satinwood card-table painted with a border of peacock feathers and eighteen shield-back chairs. A chair from this set, and a chair of this model dated circa 1887 by Wright and Mansfield, are in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum, London (Maurice Tomlin, Catalogue of Adam Period Furniture, London, 1982, p. 133, P/7 and P/8).
