JUVENALIS, Decimus Junius (60-140) & Aulius PERSIUS FLACCUS (34-62). Satyrae. Venice: Aldus, August 1501. Small 8° (153 x 92mm). Initials supplied in red and blue, red and blue paraphs, first letter of each line coloured in yellow up to C3r. (Hole in title repaired, with loss of 2 letters on recto, supplied in facsimile, title lightly soiled, a few light spots). Old-style modern calf (new endpapers). Provenance: Harvard College Library (Bowie Collection, gift of Mrs E.D. Brandegge, 9 November 1908, stamp on verso of title, together with release stamp).
FIRST ALDINE EDITION, without the printer’s device on title and with colophon in italics: ‘Venetiis in aedibus Aldi. Mense Augusto M DI’. The second edition retained the date of Aldus's first edition but added the printer’s device to the title. Adams J-770; Ahmanson-Murphy 44; Renouard 29:6.
