FIRST EDITION IN ORIGINAL PARTS. Dickens's eighth and favourite novel recalled the London of his own youth, and portrayed his father in the feckless but irrepressible Mr Micawber. It is one of the scarcer novels in parts, the original sales not exceeding 25,000 copies despite its later popularity. This copy includes the 'particularly scarce' Lett's fold-out ad in part 8 with six specimen pieces and a variant of the advertisements in part 12 as mentioned by Hatton and Cleaver. Eckel pp. 77-78; Hatton and Cleaver pp. 253-272; Podeschi A121.
