Lot Essay

This lot shows strong resemblances to the painting by Gaspard de Witte in the Koninklijk Museum voor Schone Kunsten, Antwerp. The loose brushwork of the foliage points towards an artist of Antwerp origins, who may have travelled in Italy in the second half of the seventeenth century.
