A RARE LARGE IRON-RED AND UNDERGLAZE BLUE-DECORATED BOWL
QIANLONG SIX-CHARACTER SEAL MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE AND OF THE PERIOD (1736-1795)
The deep bowl is painted on the exterior in underglaze-blue with a continuous frieze of sea beasts including winged horses, dragons and chimeras frolicking on a fine iron-red wave ground, set between a keyfret border at the rim and around the straight foot. The base of the interior is decorated with a winged dragon on a wave-ground enclosed within a central medallion.
8 1/4 in. (21 cm.) diam.
