A CARVED CINNABAR LACQUER 'PEACOCK' TRAY
MING DYNASTY, 15TH-16TH CENTURY
The dish has shallow rounded sides that rise to a stepped rim. The interior is carved with a peacock standing on rocks, with wings and tail feathers fully extended amidst lotus sprays. The reverse is carved with continuous floral scroll. The underside with an incised characters, Zhang Cheng zao.
