This figure is derived from an engraving entitled 'L'Oeconome' by Jacques Philippe Le Bas (1707-83), published in 1754 and after a 1747 painting by Chardin. See Dr. Erika Pauls-Eisenbeiss, German Porcelain of the 18th Century, London, 1972, Vol. I, p. 98 for a similar figure and details of comparable examples. Another example of this model was sold in these Rooms on 27 November 2012, lot 124.
