Each shaped circular and with foliage heightened scroll rim, the fluted border engraved with foliage strapwork and two crests, marked underneath, further stamped 'Garrards Panton Street London'

The crests are those of Lane and Fox, almost certainly for George Lane Fox (1816-1896), of Bramham Park, Yorkshire, who married Katherine Mary (d.1873), daughter of John Stein, in 1837.

The presentation of the magnificent testimonial took place at Harewood Hall after a special breakfast held in honour of Mr. Fox-Pitt. Lord Harwood made the presentation of ‘the splendid service of gold plate’’ on behalf of over 200 subscribers. The service for twenty-four diners and was in the ‘Queen Anne’’ style. Supplied by Garrards it cost in excess of 3,000 guineas.
