Lot Essay

This chest belongs to a small group with the characteristic features of fruitwood cross-bandings and large single-panel sides and back.
Here the 1845 'Weekly Dispatch' newspaper lining in the top drawer appears to confirm the local hearsay Oxfordshire attribution with the hand-written address 'Mrs Jones, Masones Factory, Tiddington, Oxfordshire'
