Foskey exhibited at the Royal Academy four times, including the present work in 1897, as well as at the Royal Hibernian Academy, Royal Society of British Artists, and Royal Institution. Here he explores the theme of a stranger's arrival, the dishevelled figure of the woman wrapped in animal pelts, emerging from the woods, standing in stark contrast to the elegance of the classically draped group to the left in an elysian meadow.
