Oblong 8° (142 x 175 mm). Engraved title and 18 engraved plates. (Mounted on guards, a few plates slightly shorter.) Early 20th-century full brown morocco, spine gilt-lettered.

This rare suite of engravings with title form the complete festival book produced in Paris to celebrate the marriage of Cosimo II, Duke of Tuscany, to Maria Maddalena of Austria. Cosimo had been tutored by Galileo who dedicated his Sidereus Nuncius to him when he published it in 1610. The prints are derived from Remigio Cantagallina's etchings issued at the time of the wedding (1608), and printed in reverse from the originals. Lipperheide 2743 (Moncornet edition); Vinet, 607.
