The King asks for marriage gifts to be sent to William Froughton, who was employed in his household. “We woll and charge that unto our well-beloved servant, Wm. Foughton, groome of our chamber, or to the bringer herof, in his name, ye delyver or doo to be delyvered these presents folowing towards his apparell against his marriage to bee brevely solemnised first four broad yards… of violet cloth for a gowne… Item as much blacke lamme as wol suffice to furre the same. Item three yards of black velvet for a doublet. Item eight yards of tawny chamlet for a jaquet… one payre of hoses of crymson… one bonet… oe hat… three ells of lynen cloth for a shirt… This our letter shalbe yor sufficient warrannt and discharge on this behalf.” This document is from the second year of his reign.
