LAWERENCE, T. E. Autograph note signed (as “TE Shaw AC"), Hythe, 21 March 1932. 1 page, oblong 8vo. In pencil. “208” noted at top.
A TECHNICAL NOTE ABOUT A NOISY BOAT MOTOR. It reads in full: “The R. L. engine in this boat has a very noisy oil pump drive, which sounds like a rotary hammer in the crank-case, on first starting up. It is due to too closely meshed teeth in the oil pump, bottoming with cold & thick oil. Upon first starting daily run at tick-over for 10 minutes, & then open, sharply to about 1600 revs till the hammering stops. It will pass off in a fortnight, I expect. If not, please report to Coastal Area.”
