Reliure anglaise du XVIIe siècle, maroquin rouge, plats entièrement orné d’un grand décor doré avec cartouche central rectangulaire, dos à 5 nerfs orné, tranches dorées.
Provenance : Paul May (1869-1940, ex-libris) – Confisqué par l’Einsatzstab Reichsleiter Rosenberg suite à l’occupation des Pays-Bas en mai 1940 puis restitué à Ellen van Marx-May après 1946 – Vente à Zürich le 19 octobre 1949, première partie, n° 12) – Acquis à la librairie Erasmushaus à Bâle en 1949 – Sans l’ex-libris Maurice Burrus.
ÉDITION ORIGINALE de cette histoire de Charterhouse, école et hospice populaire londonien fondé par Thomas Sutton en 1611.
Importante restauration aux feuillets A5 à A7. Dos passé avec les mors un peu frottés, choc au coin inférieur du premier plat.
