With iron bands and two iron suspension rings, one face with painted 'W', the other 'H M S / VICTORY / RN 29', the bottom formed with blocks to allow it to be stood upright, approx. 10 ½ in. (26.7 cm.) diam.

The Society of Nautical Research was founded at the turn of the 20th century to restore H.M.S. Victory which had by that time begun to badly deteriorate. Funds were raised by the sale of surplus ephemera and of souvenirs manufactured from unusable parts including nails and copper sheathing.
