According to the archives of Vacheron Constantin the present watch was manufactured in 1973.

The present model was introduced following Vacheron Constantin receiving the Prestige de la France award on 23rd June 1972. The ceremony took place under the direction of the French Minister François-Xavier Oriole and the distinction was rewarding the partnership between the Manufacture and talented Parisian jewelers.

The Prestige de la France is one of the most iconic designs created by Vacheron Constantin, and vintage examples remain highly prized and sought by collectors. Vacheron Constantin in recent years introduced a re-edition that further ignited interest in the original examples.
