Accompanied by a Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with lapped gold indexes in 1950 and its subsequent sale on January 31st of the following year.

Production of the famous "Calatrava" model with reference 96 was launched in 1932 and in 1950 it was replaced by reference 2457.

The present watch was one of three Patek Philippe wristwatches purchased by an American gentleman traveling in Italy in January 1951 to give to his three sons. The watch is remarkable for its original, unpolished condition including what is likely the original crystal. The raised enamel track and lettering is striking. The 14k gold bracelet was likely purchased and added in America as the Extract mentions that it was originally sold on a leather strap. The watch has never before been offered in public, mostly sitting in a safety deposit box for many decades and was worn minimally in the past.
