THE WINSTANLEY COLLECTIONREMOVED FROM ASTWOOD COURT, WORCESTERSHIREFrom the moment that Jean and Michael Winstanley purchased the moated manor house known as Astwood Court in 1993 on their return from America, they quickly decided to furnish it with appropriate early oak furniture and complimentary metalware and carved panels. Over many years of buying they formed strong links with William Stokes of Cirencester, Keil of Broadway and Keith Hockin in Stow-on-the-Wold, all close by in the Cotswolds. Originally a 16th century farmhouse and re-modelled in the 18th century, Astwood Court was the last seat of the Culpeper's in England prior to some of the family emigrating to America in the 17th century. It is said that all American Culpeper's can trace their ancestry back to John Culpeper (1565-1635) of Astwood in Feckenham. Now that the Winstanley's are moving once again they hope that new collectors will be able to enjoy the items offered here.
