A CARVED AGATE SNUFF BOTTLE
1760-1850
The compressed globular bottle is well-hollowed and carved on the sides with a shell, a butterfly and a spider using the natural white and grey striations in the stone. The lower portion of the bottle is carved in relief with a large fish, its eye formed from a black speck in the stone.
2 in. (5.1 cm.) high, glass stopper
