Lot Essay

A very similar design of clusters of butterflies delicately picked out in blue and white, iron-red, green, yellow and iron-red enamels, can be seen on a tapering vase dated to the Kangxi period in the Palace Museum Collection, Beijing, illustrated in The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum - 38 - Porcelains in Polychrome and Contrasting Colours, Hong Kong, 1999, p. 134, no. 122.
