A DEHUA SEATED FIGURE OF GUANYIN
18TH-19TH CENTURY
The seated bodhisattva is shown leaning on a tri-lobed arm rest with cabriole leg issuing from a monster mask and terminating in a clawed foot. The figure wears layered robes falling in graceful folds around the body and wrapped around the right arm. The face is modeled with a calm expression and the hair is dressed in knotted tresses that trail onto the shoulders. A fisherman mark (pu ji yu ren) is impressed on the back, and the figure is covered with a glaze with slight blue tint.
