Lot Essay

The signatures Xihuaxuanzhu and Peixia belonged to the artist Fang Yunfeng (1897-1957), who was a native of Fuliang, Jiangxi province, and an artist at Jingdezhen. He was best known for his painting of demure ladies in his early years, whereas his later works were more focused on other subjects such as cats and peonies.
