A WHITE JADE DOUBLE-GOURD BRUSH WASHER, XI
18TH-19TH CENTURY
The vessel is carved in the form of a double-gourd borne on a leafy vine that forms an openwork handle at one end, and bears smaller gourds on the sides. A bat in flight spans the two openings. The softly polished, semi-translucent stone is of pale greenish-white color with an area of brown speckling on the underside.
