As supplements for the Sèvres Service des Asturies, the center with the gilt and flower garland cypher of Prince Charles of Asturies, the lobed border finely painted with three landscape panels reserved by tooled gilt surrounds and hung with festoons of roses, alternating with ovolo of the castle crest of Castile

For Prince Charles of Asturies (later Charles IV of Spain) and his wife Maria Luisa of Parma, Buen Retiro made replacement or additions for the celebrated Sèvres Service des Asturies delivered in 1775. See Christie's, New York, 19 May 2004, lot 82 for a Sèvres tray from this service.
