Né en 1861 à New York, Leslie Giffen Cauldwell étudie à l’Académie Julian à Paris. Ses professeurs sont Gustave Boulanger et Carolus-Duran, représentants de la peinture académique parisienne. Il exposera aux Salons de 1885 et 1888. A partir de 1896 il se concentre sur des projets décoratifs.
Born in 1861 in New York, the American artist Leslie Giffen Cauldwell studied at the Académie Julian in Paris. His teachers were Gustave Boulanger and Carolus-Duran, both representatives of the French Academic style. In 1885 and 1888 he exhibited at the Paris Salon. From 1896 onward, Cauldwell focused his work on the decorative arts rather than painting.
