FIRST EDITION of one of the first Western accounts of Vietnam, with the earliest detailed map of the North of the country, showing the coast line as far East as Macao. Divided into two parts, Rhodes's account presents a detailed picture of the manners and customs of the local people, as well as giving a first-hand account of missionary activity in the region between 1627 and 1646.
